Character Counts! is a 9’-diameter medallion created with seventh graders at Chief Garry Middle School (Spokane, WA) in November 2001. The project was sponsored by 21st Century Community Learning Centers.

The medallion is composed of 16 wedges in the outer ring and eight in the inner ring. The center is a “recycled” hubcap. Each student who participated in the project was responsible for designing and completing one wedge from post-consumer recyclables.

The Character Counts! Theme reinforced the school’s Character Counts! program which promotes TRRFCC (Terrific): Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Citizenship, Caring).
