Longfellow

BACK

Around The World At Longfellow, a 4-foot square collage-quilt, was made by fifth and sixth graders at Longfellow Elementary (Spokane, WA) as an after-school project in October 2002. It was sponsored by 21st Century Community Learning Centers.

This quilt uses the traditional Around The World patch. Student-artists were asked to consider what goes around the world: the sun. So the background color of yellow was chosen. What else goes on around the world? The answer: many wonderful and diverse things. So the student-artists showed a diversity of people, plants and animals – beautiful things we all love – to show this dimension in the artwork.
